How much does each customer who walks in / calls cost?

How much does each employee cost me in total per day?

How much does a day / working hour cost me?

Usually a question relevant to all organizations, but some never get around to checking it because they think the process is complex and requires many resources.

Even if you don't have advanced information systems and large resources (time, technology and money), you can produce snapshots that present the calculation based on the main costs, even if you enter them monthly in Excel and perform an approximate calculation of allocations, and you will be surprised how much information you discover.

Data to take into account, usually:

Direct costs:

  • Employer cost per employee

  • Number of customers who walked in / called / purchased

  • Monthly working hours per employee

Management and general costs:

  • Rent

  • Property tax and water

  • Phone

  • Placement

  • Cleaning

  • Electricity

  • Building management fees

  • Other management-related costs

The metrics to address / calculate in order to build the report:

  • Total entries / sales / inquiries

  • Number of actions per hour

  • Cost per customer

  • Cost per sale

  • Costs by dates and hours
